According to reports, America ranks between 17th and 14th in quality of education. In order to improve our schools, we must be willing to face the truth about how we are educating them. We are creating too many employees and not enough employers.

We are using an outdated model to educate children in the 21st century. As the workplace evolves to accommodate the requirements of a global economy, the educational system must evolve in order to supply students who can work and thrive within this new model. Skilled labor and customer service jobs are either being exported or replaced with machines.

The new economic model will need to incorporate smaller; more agile businesses and we will need entrepreneurs to start those businesses. Schools need to do a better job of preparing students to be employers. We also need to invest in higher criteria for teachers and be willing to pay more. Investing in the education of our citizens is the truest investment we can make to protect our nation’s long term sustainability. Otherwise, we will keep producing employees who can’t find anyone to work for.

Interleaved Practice

This technique may be pretty useful to you if you need to study mathematics. It enhances your ability to solve cognitive tasks, such as math problems. Interleaved practice involves studying several unrelated topics at the same time, instead of just trying to learn one subject or master one skill at a time. With this technique, you start a session by reading a material from a certain subject, and after that session is over, you move on to another subject, instead of going back to the previous one. This way, you will train your brain to focus harder on different tasks and try and solve different problems at the same time. If you interleave subjects while studying, your brain will have to work harder to come up with a solution to a problem, whereas if you only focus on mastering one skill, the brain will be aware of the problem ahead of time and it won’t try so hard to solve it. This means that your brain won’t be able to tackle a new problem or a task.

These techniques can be useful when you are preparing for your final exams, driver’s license exam, or any other test.
